Testing

What actually happens during a home sleep test?

A calm walk-through of the setup, the night itself, and the clinician review and phone call that follow.

By Sámh · General sleep-health information

A home sleep test is designed to be simple. When your Sámh test arrives, it contains a small reusable sensor, illustrated instructions and return packaging.

Preparing for the night

The sensor sits at the base of your neck. A mobile app guides you through pairing, positioning and starting the recording. You then sleep as you normally would — in your own bed, without masks or trailing wires.

Results and review

In the morning, you stop the recording, the data is transmitted securely, and the device is returned so it can be cleaned and reused for another patient. A clinician reviews the recording and we phone you to walk through your result and a personal recommendation on what to do next.

Compared with an overnight lab study, a home test is quicker to arrange, more representative of your usual sleep, and — because the device is reusable — considerably lower-waste.

Take the next step

Sleep in your own bed and know what is happening.
